PRINTMAKER PAINTER MUSICIAN

An Artist, Educator and Musician currently living in Kirikiriroa/Hamilton, Wayne was born in Gore and attended Otago School Of Art before training as a Secondary School Teacher in Christchurch. He has taught in schools in the Far North, Auckland and Hamilton, as well as overseas. After joining his first band in the early 80's as a drummer/vocalist, he has played in a variety of original and cover bands and is currently a member of punk/adjacent originals band "The Dawks".

NOW AVAILABLE: The first of my 2025 limited editions of Woodblock prints (Edition of 30, signed and numbered) can now be purchased directly from myself. These are printed on 1584 Hahnemuhle 100% rag paper, acid free. The print size is 230x250mm and the paper size is approximately 380x480mm.

My work will also be on display in the Portobello Gallery, Dunedin. The gallery will open on Sunday November 2nd 2025. At this stage it will be open on Sundays only but this may extend to Saturdays as well over the Summer period.

STRAIGHT FROM THE STUDIO: The hand coloured version of my limited edition print above. Each hand coloured print is an individual work, as tonal and colour differences happen because I do not refer to previous examples when starting the next one.

The colours used are from Global Art Supplies acrylic and Jo Sonja's Acrylic gouache. These are very fade-resistant paints, however works should not be hung in a manner that exposes them to direct sunlight.

JUST COMPLETED: This print is a special edition of only 4 copies, each one hand coloured. The variations in colouring the print will make each one unique and it will be signed by the artist and labelled "Hand coloured woodblock print".

The work is a composite of elements from the New Zealand landscape, Nikau palms and Pohutukawa trees and the shore north of the Bay Of Islands (where I lived for 15 years). Elements of Maori art Koru patterns are interwoven into the landscape.
