It's Time...

Certainly time for another entry. I am back from my overseas journey and I hope to start including some of the ideas for new work that this has generated. 3 days on the island of Iona has given me plenty to think about, for sure.
Years ago I was right into calligraphy and used to have all the equipment and supplies to create my own designs (the old way, with pen, ink and a LOT of practice). After seeing the Book Of Kells and other manuscripts with my own eyes, I am thinking about integrating some hand lettering into my woodblocks (or other types of art) and see where that leads.
Meantime, I have a small exhibition of work in Dunedin next weekend. It's very informal and I don't know if there will be other artists involved or not. The deadline has helped me get some work completed though and even if the actual exhibition doesn't happen on the day, it will be set up and ready for when it does. By myself, I don't have enough work done to fill the space available, although I may get some small works done on the actual weekend, so we (my friend who owns the Gallery) will play things by ear!
So, am I ready? Not yet, but I am close. Next year in January I should have a lot more works ready to go. They will be available on this site (NZ customers only), Portobello Gallery in Dunedin and in Craft and Produce markets in the Waikato region, where I will have a stall showing my work and how I colour it.
